Gwalior, MP, Nov 4 (UNI) Once considered an impenetrable bastion of the Congress, Gwalior has emerged as a stronghold of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the course of last few assembly elections, and it would be a tough challenge for the saffron party to maintain its supremacy in coming elections.
In 2013, the BJP managed to gain an edge by winning four assembly seats – out of total six – in Gwalior District. These include Gwalior Rural, Gwalior, Gwalior East and Gwalior South seats. On the other hand, the Congress maintained its hold on Bhitarwar and Dabra (Reserved) seats.
Under such circumstances, the BJP has its work cut out – to retain all four seats and wrest the two others from the Congress.
