Montenegro confirms first monkeypox case

Belgrade, July 31 (UNI) Montenegro has detected the country's first monkeypox case and the patient remains in good health, the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro said on Sunday.
"The laboratory of the institute's molecular diagnostics department detected and, in cooperation with the Torlak Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera, confirmed the first case of monkeypox. Montenegro thus entered the list of 79 countries where this disease has been registered," the institute said in a statement.
According to the health authority, all the necessary steps have been taken concerning the patient and people who were in contact with him. All the necessary authorities have been informed about this development in accordance with international protocols.
