Modi's guarantee extends globally, asserts Dr Jaishankar

Hyderabad, April 24 (UNI) Union External Affairs Minister Dr Jaishankar emphasized that "Modi's guarantee" transcends India's borders, stating that it holds significance on a global scale.
Addressing a talk on "Foreign Policy the India Way: From Diffidence to Confidence" organized by the Forum for Nationalist Thinkers, Hyderabad Chapter, on Tuesday evening, Dr Jaishankar highlighted the evolution of India's foreign policy from a stance of diffidence to one of confidence.
Dr Jaishankar acknowledged the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, drawing parallels to Lord Hanuman as a diplomatic archetype.
He underscored the importance of placing national interest at the forefront of foreign policy decisions, emphasizing India's commitment to the welfare and security of its citizens.
Highlighting India's proactive stance in global affairs, Dr Jaishankar referenced instances where India extended support to nations during times of crisis, including those in the Pacific and Caribbean regions. He emphasized the ethical dimension of India's foreign policy, advocating for inclusivity and solidarity with nations facing challenges.
Reflecting on historical challenges, Dr Jaishankar identified China as a longstanding concern in India's foreign policy landscape.
He underscored the need for strategic clarity and emphasized the importance of prioritizing national interests in diplomatic engagements.
Dr Jaishankar advocated for an "India first" approach to foreign policy, stressing the imperative of safeguarding national security and interests while engaging with the global community.
Dr Jaishankar discussed India's engagement with the United Nations on the Kashmir issue, noting the pragmatic stance advocated by leaders like Patel. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding national interests without undue influence from external judgments.
Touching upon the revocation of Article 370, Dr Jaishankar asserted that India rectified a historic mistake dating back to 1947. He underscored the need to prioritize national interests over international pressures, particularly concerning Kashmir and Pakistan.
Reflecting on India's diplomatic relations with the United States, Dr Jaishankar highlighted past decisions that impacted bilateral ties. He stressed the significance of fostering strong relationships for national development and economic growth.
Dr Jaishankar emphasized the transformative shift in India's foreign policy mindset, citing examples such as the nuclear option and economic reforms.
He highlighted the importance of a confident and proactive approach in shaping India's future on the global stage.
