Karnataka exempted from Election Code except for Chincholi and Kundagol where byelection for Assembly seats are scheduled for May 19

Bengaluru, May 3 (UNI) Election Commission has exempted Karnataka government from implementing the Election Code in force in the country except for Chincholi and Kundagol where byelection for Assembly seats are scheduled for May 19, State Chief Election Officer Sunil Kumar said here today.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he, however, said that the exemption is limited to providing basic infrastructure, initiating Tender process for various development projects, supply of Drinking water, recruitment and transfer in State government offices, Boards, Cooperative Institutions, Local Bodies.
He said that in the recently concluded two phase polling held on April 18 and 23 for 28 Lok Sabha seats in the State, more than 81.45 per cent physically disabled have caste their votes. In all 4.28 lakh physically disabled have exercised their franchise. In all the State has registered 69 per cent polling.

Farmers' compensation from Centre pending since 2002: Kerala Minister

MGNREGA created 24 59 lakh workdays in Kollam during Q1
