One of oldest members of Russian diaspora in US celebrates 103rd birthday

Washington, Nov 1 (Sputnik/UNI) One of the oldest members of the Russian diaspora in the United States, Evgenia Bailey, whose parents arrived in the country more than a century ago, celebrates her 103rd birthday on Sunday. Bailey is one of the first Russians born on the US soil in the 1920s. Her parents, Maria and Pavel Nikonenko, were among the first 526 Russians who arrived in the US aboard the USAT Merritt on July 1, 1923, four months before her birthday.
