Bulgaria to hold Presidential runoff on Nov 1

Moscow, Nov 1 (Sputnik/UNI) Bulgaria will hold the second round of the presidential election on Sunday.

Incumbent President Iliana Iotova, who got 34.7% of the vote in the first round, will face former Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov, who garnered 31.9%, in a final showdown.

Although both candidates are running as independents, Iotova is endorsed by the ruling Progressive Bulgaria alliance, while Gyurov is supported by pro-EU opposition parties. Both contenders are also expected to face same record low participation as in the first round.
