Kabul, Apr 4(UNI) Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday issued two separate decrees, the first of which appointed former national security adviser Mohammad Haneef Atmar as the acting foreign minister, while the second nominated Atmar for permanent appointment for the same position, pending confirmation by the Afghan Parliament.
Atmar, who was also a candidate in the last year's presidential election, before withdrawing, replaced Mohammad Haroon Chakhansuri, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Policy.
This appointment comes after President Ghani recently appointed head of Hizb-e-Islami Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal as the Acting Minister of Finance, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair as the Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Shakir Kargar as his Chief of Staff, and Sayed Wahid Qatali as the Governor of Herat.
