Congress protests against CEC, SIR in North Bengal

Siliguri, Sep 28 (UNI) Congress workers staged demonstrations in Siliguri and Malda on Monday against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and over what the party alleged was the partisan functioning of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. In Siliguri, the Darjeeling district Congress organised a protest march from the foot of the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar near Siliguri Junction to the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer. Party workers raised slogans against the Election Commission and demanded the arrest of the CEC, alleging irregularities in the voter-list revision process.
