HC dismisses Congress plea challenging BJP candidate's affidavit

Kolkata, Sep 29 (UNI) The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed by the Congress challenging the election affidavit of BJP candidate Hasirani Rath from Nandigram, over an alleged discrepancy in her educational qualification and age. The petition was heard by Justice Krishna Rao, who had reserved the order after concluding the hearing on Friday. The Congress had questioned Rath's affidavit submitted to the Election Commission, pointing out that the Madhyamik certificate furnished by her stated that she had passed the examination in 1965.
