Ranchi, Sep 22 (UNI) Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Tuesday interacted with students and research scholars from various countries pursuing higher education and research in India under the ICCR scholarship programme at Lok Bhavan here.
Addressing the students, the Governor highlighted India's ancient knowledge and educational traditions, referring to institutions such as Takshashila, Nalanda and Vikramashila, which attracted learners from different parts of the world. He said the participation of students from countries including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Iraq and nations in Africa and the Middle East reflected strong academic and cultural ties between India and their respective countries. Gangwar said India believed in the principle of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" and that knowledge and dialogue helped build bridges between nations and bring people closer.
He urged the students to understand India's history, diverse culture, traditions and democratic values along with their academic pursuits. He also encouraged them to explore Jharkhand's rich tribal and cultural heritage and natural resources during their stay in the state.
The Governor said the foreign students could serve as bridges of friendship and mutual understanding between India and their respective countries. He expressed hope that they would carry positive memories of India and share their experiences with people in their home countries.
The interaction also provided an opportunity for the students to share their academic journeys and experiences of studying and living in India.
