Bengal: National Commission for Women seeks swift action in Purulia nursing trainee murder

Purulia, Sep 16 (UNI) The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of the murder of 19-year-old nursing trainee Pritika Mahato in Purulia and sought stringent action against those responsible. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has written to West Bengal Director General of Police Siddhinath Gupta, seeking a comprehensive investigation, recovery of the murder weapon and invocation of all applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Commission has also directed the police to thoroughly collect and preserve forensic evidence from the crime scene.
