Bengal mulls hefty fines for dumping garbage in neighbourhoods

Kolkata, Sep 21 (UNI) After taking measures against spitting and urination in public places, the West Bengal authorities are now considering cracking down on people throwing waste in neighbourhoods to improve cleanliness and curb the dengue outbreak in the city. The state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department is exploring options to penalise persons found randomly throwing garbage in neighbouring premises. According to state UDMA Minister Agnimitra Paul, if garbage is found between the boundaries of two buildings, fines would be imposed on both structures.
