Campaign ends for polling in Tripura East parliamentary constituency

Agartala, April 24 (UNI) The vocal campaign for the Tripura East (ST) parliamentary constituency concluded on Wednesday with the election scheduled to be held across 1664 polling stations on April 26.
As many as 13,95,089 electors including 6,93,365 females, and 16 transgender will decide the fate of nine candidates. Veteran CPI-M leader and former MLA Rajendra Reang is contesting as INDI alliance nominee against BJP'sKriti Singh Debbarman, the elder sister of TIPRA Motha’s founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman. There are also seven independent candidates.
Comprising 30 assembly segments, East Tripura has 49 percent tribal voters from Dhalai, North Tripura, Unakoti, Khowai, and 4 assemblies of South Tripura and 3 assemblies of Gomati districts, which registered at least 4349 service voters, 8734 voters of over 85 years old and 10,560 physically challenged electors.
