After heavy rain, weather improves slightly in Kashmir

Srinagar, April 20 (UNI) The weather improved slightly in Kashmir on Saturday after two days of incessant rains and snowfall.
The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained shut on Saturday due to the mudslide and shooting stones at several places
“Restoration work is going on at Dalwas, Mehad, Gangroo & Kishtwari Pather on NH-44. People are advised not to undertake journey till the road is fully restored,” traffic police posted on X this morning.
The meteorological department in Srinagar said the mainly dry weather with possibility of thunder development light rain was expected at isolated to scattered places towards afternoon in next 24 hours.
For the subsequent two days, MeT has predicted isolated to scattered rains and thunderstorms till Monday.
In the last 24 hours, the MeT data revealed that summer capital Srinagar recorded about 17.8 mm of rainfall, 30 mm in Qazigund, the gateway into Kashmir in the south, 13.4 mm in Kupwara, 7.2 mm in tourist resort of Pahalagm and 14.56 mm in ski resort of Gulmarg.
Jammu recorded 10.6 mm of rainfall , Banihal 40 mm, Batote 29.4 mm, Katra 13.8 mm and Bhaderwah 16 mm during the last 24 hours.
The minimum temperature during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday was 7 degrees Celsius in Srinagar, 0.5 in Gulmarg and 5.4 in Pahalgam.
Jammu city had 16.8, Katra 15.5, Batote 8.4, Bhaderwah 6.6 and Banihal 6.4 as the night’s lowest temperature.
