IIT-Bombay defers mid-sem exams after student death; Police detain father ahead of hunger strike

Mumbai, Sep 24 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay has deferred its mid-semester examinations scheduled for September 26 and 27 to October 10 and 11, following protests on the campus after the death of second-year BTech student Sahil Wakode. The institute said the decision was taken after discussions with student representatives and other stakeholders, while the additional time would enable a newly-constituted committee to work on revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for handling suspected cases of academic misconduct during examinations.
