Maha to lead change to protect democracy, Constitution: Congress

Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) Newly appointed Maharashtra Congress in-charge, Dr Sirivella Prasad, today said the country needed political change to protect democracy and the Constitution, and expressed confidence that the process would begin from Maharashtra. Prasad, who began his five-day tour of Maharashtra, formally assumed charge at the state party headquarters Tilak Bhavan in Mumbai. Addressing party leaders and workers, he alleged that democratic institutions were being weakened and raised issues including unemployment, farmers' distress and irregularities in the electoral process.
