Plea in Bombay HC to stop SIR, postpone Maha assembly elections

Mumbai, Sep 25 (UNI) A writ petition filed through Advocate Asim Sarode before the Kolhapur bench of the Bombay High Court has challenged 14 actions allegedly taken by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, despite the objections of his colleagues. More importantly, the petitioners have sought quashing of the 14 impugned actions allegedly taken by the CEC, halting of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Maharashtra, restoration of deleted voter names, postponement of the forthcoming Maharashtra State Assembly Elections (expected to be held in November 2029), until legally compliant electoral rolls are prepared and approved, along with the constitution…
