Maha Governor Jishnu Dev Varma calls for forgiveness, universal friendship

Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Sunday called for forgiveness and universal friendship, saying the teachings of Lord Mahavira have acquired greater relevance in a world witnessing conflict, war, intolerance and division. Addressing the Collective Forgiveness, World Friendship Day and Jain Ratna Felicitation Ceremony organised by Bharat Jain Mahamandal at Aaradhya Bhakti Park Dome in Ghatkopar (East), the Governor said the Jain principles of truth, non-violence, non-stealing, non-possession and celibacy were not merely religious doctrines but formed the foundation of a peaceful, just and humane society.
