Washim farmers seek drought declaration, stage protest during Fadnavis' visit

Washim, Sep 24 (UNI) Farmers in Maharashtra's Washim district on Thursday urged the state government to declare the region drought-hit and provide immediate relief, staging a protest during Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' visit to inspect crops affected by deficient rainfall. Fadnavis toured parts of Washim and neighbouring Amravati district in the Vidarbha region to assess the impact of deficient rainfall on standing Kharif crops. During the visit, he reviewed soybean, cotton and pigeon pea fields and interacted with cultivators facing losses due to the prolonged dry spell.
