Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana begins indefinite 'rasta roko' on Pune-Bengaluru Highway

Kolhapur, Nov 3 (UNI) The Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) on Tuesday launched an indefinite 'rasta roko' agitation on the Pune-Bengaluru highway near the Kini toll plaza, demanding a first instalment of Rs 4,500 to Rs 5,000 per tonne for sugarcane. A large number of farmers began assembling at the protest site, where former MP and SSS president Raju Shetty also arrived to lead the agitation. The blockade is likely to disrupt vehicular traffic on the busy highway.
