Madras HC quashes Goondas Act detention of private school fraud case accused

Chennai, Sep 28 (UNI) The Madras High Court on Monday quashed the detention of a key accused, B.T.Arasakumar, arrested in the private school fraud case, under the Goondas Act. He was arrested for illegally collecting more than Rs 100 crore from private schools for according/renewing permanent recognitions and other statutory approvals during the previous DMK regime, following which cases were also booked against former School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, whose premises were also raided by the CCB police.
