Kochi, Oct 11 (UNI) Ten flight services connecting Cochin International Airport with destinations in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have been cancelled between October 11 and 13 due to the prevailing geopolitical situation in the region.
The cancellations include five services operated by Akasa Air, while Flynas, Air India Express and IndiGo have also reported disruptions, according to a social media brief issued by Cochin International Airport. On October 11, Flynas cancelled its XY 399/400 services operating on the Kochi-Riyadh-Kochi sector. Air India Express flights IX 476 from Doha to Kochi and IX 475 from Kochi to Doha were also cancelled.
Akasa Air services QP 523 from Kochi to Riyadh and QP 550 from Kochi to Jeddah were among the other flights affected on Sunday. IndiGo's 6E 1517 service from Kochi to Ras Al Khaimah, scheduled to depart at 9.30 pm, was also listed for cancellation. On October 12, Akasa Air's QP 551 service from Jeddah to Kochi, QP 524 from Riyadh to Kochi and QP 523 from Kochi to Riyadh have been reported cancelled.
The disruption is expected to continue on October 13, with Akasa Air's QP 524 service from Riyadh to Kochi also listed among the cancelled flights. Passengers have been advised to verify their flight status with the respective airlines before leaving for the airport to avoid inconvenience.
