Amit Shah to visit Kollam today

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 26 (UNI) union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will visit Kollam on Saturday and attend a National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF) conference at Kundara, besides participating in the birthday celebrations of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi at Amritapuri.

The NCCF conference, being held as part of the International Year of Women Farmers observance, will focus on strengthening women's participation in the cooperative sector and promoting women-led cooperative enterprises.

The theme of the conference is 'Sahkar Se Samriddhi' (Prosperity through Cooperation). The programme will be held at the Pavithram Convention Centre, Kundara, from 1445 hrs to 1615 hrs. Shah will inaugurate various NCCF initiatives, including 'Vanitham She-Mart' shops, and flag off mobile vans selling subsidised onions from buffer stocks at Rs 35 a kg. The expansion of the 'Nandini Sahakar' and 'Swayam Shakti Sahakar' schemes will also be launched during the programme.

Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi will be the guest of honour. Minister M Liju, N K Premachandran MP and MLAs V Muraleedharan, Rajeev Chandrasekhar and B B Gopakumar are among those scheduled to attend. NCCF Managing Director Anees Joseph Chandra and Chairman Vishal Singh will also participate in the conference. After the Kundara programme, Shah will proceed to Amritapuri at Vallikavu to attend the birthday celebrations of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi.
