Fadnavis declares drought in 265 Maha Talukas; announces immediate relief measures

Mumbai, Sep 26 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has decided to declare drought in 265 of the state's 358 talukas following an assessment of rainfall, water availability and crop conditions, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said. A Government Resolution (GR) formalising the drought declaration is expected to be issued on Saturday, after which a series of relief measures will be implemented across the affected areas, Fadnavis stated. Fadnavis has directed district collectors to establish 24-hour war rooms to coordinate drought-relief operations and ensure prompt implementation of the measures.
