BJP seeks constitutional action against Kerala Minister over Amit Shah convoy protest

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 3 (UNI) The BJP has approached Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar seeking constitutional action against State Youth Affairs and Sports Minister O J Janeesh over the alleged blocking of union Home Minister Amit Shah's convoy by Youth Congress workers in Kollam.
A BJP delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor, alleging that the incident amounted to a serious security lapse and seeking an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the protest and the Minister's alleged role in it. The BJP said Janeesh, who is also the Youth Congress state president, had publicly stated that the protest was held on the basis of his directions and that he took responsibility for the incident.
Citing the statement, the party demanded that the alleged conspiracy behind the protest and the Minister's role be investigated. The memorandum alleged that the Minister's actions amounted to a violation of his oath of office and constitutional norms and urged the Governor to initiate appropriate action and intervene in the matter of his continuation in the Ministry.
BJP national executive member P K Krishnadas said obstructing the convoy of the union Home Minister was a serious security lapse and alleged that the protest had endangered Amit Shah's safety. Since the Minister had himself taken responsibility for the incident, the circumstances behind the protest should be investigated and the UDF Government should remove him from the Ministry, he demanded.
The delegation comprised Krishnadas, BJP state general secretary S Suresh, state vice-president Shaun George and Yuva Morcha state president Manu Prasad.
