Sammu village of Hamirpur -- where Diwali is not celebrated due to a 'curse'

Punkaj Bhaaratiya Hamirpur(HP), Nov 8 (UNI) The residents of Sammu village in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh believe the village was cursed by a woman who had committed 'Sati' and told them not to celebrate Diwali for seven generations. When some villagers attempted to celebrate the festival, a sudden fire broke out, resulting in untimely deaths and numerous hardships, they say. And that is the reason that the village goes without Diwali celebrations every year. This year too, villagers did other household chores rather than celebrating Diwali.
