Mayawati divides BSP into three sectors; urges workers to help rain-hit victims

Lucknow, Sep 27 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati on Sunday announced a three-sector restructuring of the party organisation to strengthen its base across the country and directed party workers to extend assistance to people affected by heavy rains and storms.

In a post on social media platform X, Mayawati said people in several parts of the country have been facing difficult conditions due to heavy rains and storms over the past few days. She demanded that the concerned state governments must provide all possible assistance to those affected by the natural calamity and ensure immediate relief reaches the grassroots level.

The BSP chief also called for immediate relief for people and farmers affected by drought in several areas of Maharashtra. Under the new organisational arrangement, Sector one comprises 10 states and will be jointly overseen by Rajya Sabha MPs Ramji Gautam and Suresh Rao, who are the central sector in-charges. Sector two comprises nine states and will be jointly overseen by former Rajya Sabha MP Rajaram and former MLA Attar Singh Rao, also central sector in-charges.

Sector three comprises Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and will be overseen directly by the BSP's central camp office at 9, Mall Avenue, Lucknow. Mayawati directed the four central sector in-charges of Sectors one and two to provide assistance, within their capabilities, to party workers and members in areas affected by heavy rains and storms.

She, however, said no separate funds should be collected for the relief effort to prevent anyone from taking undue advantage of the situation. If necessary, BSP national in-charge Ishan Anand could also be sent to the worst-affected states, she said. Mayawati said she was closely monitoring the situation in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, which fall under Sector 3, and may personally visit the affected areas. She also urged the Central government to provide timely and adequate assistance to the governments of the states worst hit by the rains and storms.
