Four students died from inhaling toxic gas while cleaning a submersible tank in Vrindavan

Mathura, Oct 7 (UNI) In a tragic incident, four Sanskrit students died in the Chaitanya Vihar area of Vrindavan after inhaling toxic gas and drowning while cleaning a submersible tank at the Maharishi Panini Sanskrit Gurukul Vidyalaya on Tuesday night.

According to reports, a foul smell emanated from the 12-foot-deep submersible tank located in the Gurukul. At around 10:00 pm, a student went down to clean the tank. He fell unconscious due to the toxic gas formed inside the tank. To save him, his friends climbed down into the tank one by one, but all of them fell unconscious after being exposed to the poisonous gas. As soon as the accident was reported, other people present at the scene and the local police began relief and rescue operations.

All five students were pulled out unconscious and taken to the hospital, where doctors declared Manu Katare, Vishu, Devansh, and Aryan dead. According to locals, this Gurukul has been operating for the last three years. Its three-story building has 200 students registered, and approximately 100 students are staying there.

Mathura District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh confirmed the incident and stated that the accident occurred due to the formation of toxic gas in a 12-foot-deep submersible tank. He called for a thorough investigation into the incident, saying that the cause of the accident and the arrangements for the operation of the Gurukul would be investigated.

The Chief Minister has taken cognizance of this incident and the affected families will be provided with all possible compensation.
