Chandigarh, Oct 7 (UNI) Punjab Police have dismantled three alleged illegal arms supply networks in Amritsar, arresting eight people and recovering 15 pistols and 15 live cartridges, police said on Wednesday. The Amritsar Commissionerate Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the arrested suspects were allegedly in contact with arms smugglers based abroad and were procuring illegal weapons for onward supply to criminal elements in Punjab. Police did not immediately disclose the identities of the arrested people or specify the countries from which the suspected foreign-based arms smugglers were operating.
