Haryana Police bust 3 vehicle theft gangs in Faridabad

Panchkula, Sep 24 (UNI) Haryana Police have arrested 14 accused and recovered 20 stolen vehicles in Faridabad during September, including action against three vehicle-theft gangs, with six members apprehended, a police spokesman said here on Thursday.

The recoveries made by the AVTS Sikrona team comprise 19 motorcycles, including a Royal Enfield Bullet, while another vehicle was also recovered during the month-long special drive against vehicle theft, the spokesman said. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Aman Yadav said the AVTS team had acted against three groups identified by police as the Asif-Mohit gang, Mustakeem alias Mau-Hakam gang and Alauddin-Farid gang. Six members linked to these gangs were arrested. Police recovered two motorcycles linked to the Asif-Mohit gang, four from the Mustakeem-Hakam gang, and two from the Alauddin-Farid gang, the spokesman said.

Alauddin and Farid are currently in jail. The six accused identified by police are Asif and Mohit Sharma; Mustakeem alias Mau and Hakam; and Alauddin and Farid alias Naine. Besides the action against the three gangs, Haryana Police arrested eight other accused and recovered 12 motorcycles, taking the total number of accused apprehended during September to 14 and stolen vehicles recovered to 20. The police spokesman said the recovered vehicles have been linked to theft cases registered in different police station areas of Faridabad, including Central, Sector 17, Sector 58, City Ballabgarh, Mujesar, Surajkund, Kotwali and Kheri Pul.

Some of the recoveries relate to vehicle-theft cases dating back to 2022 and 2023, while others are linked to cases registered in 2025 and 2026. The spokesman said four vehicles were also recovered under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and were linked to theft cases registered at the Mujesar, Sarai Khwaja, and City Ballabgarh police stations. Haryana Police are now questioning the accused to trace other stolen vehicles and identify additional members of the network, the spokesman said, adding that some of those arrested were also found to have previous criminal cases, including theft cases, registered against them.

ACP Crime said the special drive against vehicle thieves would continue, and further legal action was being taken in the cases.
