CID inspector held for taking Rs 5 lakh bribe for 'free passage' to mining vehicles

Panchkula, Sep 20 (UNI) The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) on Sunday arrested a CID inspector red-handed while allegedly accepting a Rs 5 lakh bribe in exchange for allowing mining vehicles to operate without interception between Yamunanagar and Karnal. The accused, identified as Rajesh Kumar, an inspector with the Haryana Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was caught by the bureau's Kurukshetra unit during a trap operation, an SV&ACB spokesperson said. According to the complaint, Kumar allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 per vehicle per month for allowing vehicles carrying mining material to ply unhindered.
