President Murmu calls for compassionate healthcare, urges AIIMS Bilaspur to serve hill areas

Shimla, October 6 (UNI) President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday called upon medical professionals to combine clinical excellence with empathy and compassion, saying the primary objective of the medical profession should be to serve humanity. Addressing the first convocation of AIIMS Bilaspur in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, the President said a person visiting a doctor carries not only fear and uncertainty associated with illness but also hope. The empathy and compassionate behaviour of doctors gives courage to patients, apart from the knowledge and skills required to treat them, she said.
