Leh observes shutdown on 1st anniversary of Sep 24 violence

Srinagar, Sep 24 (UNI) A shutdown was observed across Leh today to mark the first anniversary of the September 24 violence in which four people were killed and nearly 100 others injured during protests demanding statehood and Sixth Schedule safeguards for Ladakh. Markets remained closed and public transport stayed off the roads as people observed the anniversary. A rally was also held in Leh, with Ladakh leaders paying tribute to those killed in the firing.
