Haryana orders crackdown on unsafe Kuttu flour as Navratri demand rises

Panchkula, Oct 11 (UNI) The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Haryana, has been asked to intensify inspections and sampling of buckwheat (kuttu) flour and other fasting foods during Navratri, warning that violations of food safety standards will invite strict action. FDA Commissioner Dr. Manoj Kumar has asked field officers to closely monitor sellers of kuttu flour and other foods consumed during fasting. The department has also issued an advisory to traders and consumers, cautioning that improperly stored, damp, stale or fungus-contaminated flour can cause food poisoning.
