NHRC issues advisory to protect human rights of female inmates, their children

New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India, has issued an advisory on the "Protection of Human Rights of Female Inmates and their Children" to nine union Ministries, Chief Secretaries/Administrators, and Directors General of Police of all States and union Territories (UTs). The Commission has emphasised that the rights and needs of prisoners, particularly female prisoners and their children, who form one of the most vulnerable groups among them, require focused attention and a sensitive, gender-responsive approach.
