Centre brings smartphone screen protectors under compulsory registration from April 1, 2027

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) The Centre has brought screen protectors for smartphones under the compulsory registration framework for electronics and information technology goods, requiring them to conform to the prescribed Indian Standard from April 1, 2027. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), through a notification has amended the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021 by adding "Screen Protectors for smartphones" as a new entry in its Schedule.
