New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) When most of 13-year-olds are still figuring out their favourite subjects at school. Omaira Gupta Anand is already a published author.
Her debut novel, 'Extracted', is an 88-page fantasy adventure that blends friendship, courage and the question of what makes us who we are, and it is beginning to attract attention in the UK and across Europe.
The story unfolds on the fictional island of Lili, where emotions are harvested and traded like everyday goods. It follows 12-year-old Samara Garder, whose life changes overnight when an unexpected opportunity pulls her away from everything she knows.
In an unfamiliar world of secrets, rival ambitions and new possibilities, Samara begins to question where she belongs. She soon discovers she may be far more significant than she once believed. But as friendships grow complicated and the line between friend and enemy blurs, she must face a larger question: what is the price of power, and how does it change a person?
Beyond its imaginative premise, 'Extracted' is a story of self-discovery. It explores identity, courage, and loyalty, and asks what truly makes people human. Readers can expect a tale that leaves them with renewed faith in friendship and in staying true to themselves.
Omaira is a lifelong book lover who delights in building imaginary worlds and memorable characters. Before her novel, she had already published several poems and short stories and won literary awards for her writing.
Her interests reach beyond books. When she is not reading or working on new stories, she enjoys mathematics and solving puzzles.
Extracted marks her debut as a novelist, and she hopes it will be the first of many literary adventures to come.
