Rs 122 crore rail doubling project approved for Odisha's Barbil-Bolanikhadan

Bhubaneswar, Sep 28 (UNI) Indian Railways has approved the Rs 122-crore doubling of the 6-km Barbil-Bolanikhadan rail section in Odisha to boost freight capacity on a key iron ore corridor. The project is expected to facilitate an additional 8.9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of freight traffic and reduce delays to freight trains, officials said. The Barbil-Bolanikhadan section, part of the Railways' Energy, Mineral and Cement Corridor, currently operates as a single-line section carrying around 9 MTPA, including about six loaded iron ore rakes daily.
