Left-led Patna march demanding CEC resignation, SIR rollback turns violent

Patna, Sept 28 (UNI) A protest march by Left-affiliated groups, including the CPI, AISF and AIKF, turned violent in Patna on Monday after demonstrators broke through police barricades, prompting the police to use water cannons and resort to lathi-charge. Several students were injured, while some reportedly fainted and were taken to hospital for treatment. The march, which brought together students, farmers and labourers, was organised to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and repeal of the Waqf Amendment Act.
