Arunachal Congress demands permanent scrapping of SUMP, withdrawal of cases against protesters

Itanagar, Nov 2 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has reiterated its opposition to the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP), demanding its permanent cancellation, release of detained protesters and withdrawal of cases registered against those opposing the project. In a statement issued on Monday under the appeal, "Different Groups but One Voice; Different Organisations but One Collective Resolve - Stop SUMP, Save Siang," the APCC urged indigenous organisations, student and youth bodies, civil society groups, traditional institutions and citizens to unite beyond political and organisational differences to protect the Siang River and the interests of affected communities.
