Patna HC rejects hotel body's PIL against Bodh Gaya monasteries

Patna, Oct 7 (UNI) The Patna High Court has dismissed a PIL filed by the Bodh Gaya Hotel Association seeking to restrain Buddhist monasteries from providing accommodation to monks, pilgrims and devotees, holding that such facilities are incidental to their religious activities and cannot be treated as commercial enterprises. A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sudhir Singh and Justice Rajesh Kumar Verma observed that the petition by a private hotel association appeared to involve competing commercial interests rather than a genuine public cause.
