Ganesh idol immersion turns fatal, 11 drown in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sep 16 (UNI) Ganesh festivities turned tragic in Odisha on Wednesday as at least 11 people, including six children, drowned in separate incidents during Ganesh idol immersion, police said on Wednesday. The deaths were reported from Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Ganjam and Bhadrak districts. In Jagatsinghpur, four youths drowned in the Brudhha River near Gopalpur bridge under Erasama police limits while carrying a Ganesh idol into the river. Fire Service personnel and an ODRAF team recovered the bodies and took them to Erasama Community Health Centre, where doctors declared them dead.
