Kolkata Municipal Corporation clerks' union backs engineers' protest over Taratala godown collapse arrest

Kolkata, Sep 16 (UNI) Giving impetus to the ongoing protest over the arrest of an engineer in connection with the Taratala godown collapse, the clerks' union of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Wednesday extended its support to the movement. Echoing the concerns raised by the protesting engineers, the clerks' union opposed the arrest of sub-assistant engineer Amirul Sheikh in connection with the June 24 incident, when a three-storey, under-construction tea godown in the Taratala area of South Kolkata suddenly pancaked, leading to 16 fatalities and over 20 injuries.
