Sikkim: Rimbi landslide damages over 35 houses

Gangtok, Sep 25 (UNI) A major landslide triggered by incessant rainfall caused extensive damage in Rimbi village under the Yuksom-Tashiding constituency of West Sikkim, with at least 35 houses, including government quarters, fully or partially damaged, collapsed or tilted. No casualties have been reported so far. The landslide last night occurred after several days of recurring mudslides in the area, raising serious concerns over the safety of residents. More than two dozen families have already been shifted to safer locations and are currently staying in a relief camp.
