Bengal: Fake Charminar cigarettes seized in Cooch Behar markets

Siliguri, Oct 26 (UNI) A team of legal representatives from Delhi and Hyderabad seized suspected counterfeit Charminar cigarettes from several marketplaces in Cooch Behar on Monday, following a court order. Advocate Khushi Pandey said the action followed a complaint and an investigation was underway. Hyderabad-based local commissioner and advocate Bhanu accompanied her during the drive. According to Bhanu, the Charminar brand, marketed by Hyderabad-based VST Industries Limited, had allegedly been duplicated, with the counterfeit cigarettes reportedly manufactured in Patna, Bihar.
