Prohibitory order clamped in Pungro sub-division of Kiphire

Dimapur, Oct 11 (UNI) The Kiphire district magistrate has imposed prohibitory orders in Pungro sub-division, excluding Khongsa block but including Kiusam circle, amid simmering tensions between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir communities with immediate effect. One person was reportedly killed, and houses were torched in the violence between the two communities on Saturday. The order was issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, following concerns over a possible escalation of tensions in areas where the two communities coexist, including Zaonger, Pokphur and Longtsunger.
