Codeine abuse prompts Mizoram to warn pharmaceutical dealers

Aizawl, Oct 6 (UNI) Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii has warned pharmaceutical dealers that their licences could be cancelled if they are found violating laws governing the sale of medicines, as the state grapples with a growing problem of pharmaceutical drug abuse. The warning came amid concerns over the increasing misuse and illegal sale of clinical drugs, particularly codeine-based cough syrup, which authorities say has become increasingly popular among drug users.
