Mumbai software developer held for creating 2,805 malicious APKs linked to cyber frauds

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a 36-year-old software developer from Madhya Pradesh for allegedly creating and selling malicious APK files that were used by cybercrime gangs to defraud people across India. Police said the accused created 2,805 fake APK files and sold them to cyber fraud gangs. Investigators found that the malicious files were allegedly linked to frauds involving around 9,673 people. The investigation began after a senior citizen in Mumbai was allegedly cheated of Rs 5.62 lakh.
