Vidharbha & Marathwada posts average 59.63 pc polling in 8 LS seats

Mumbai, April 27 (UNI) Vidharbha and Marathwada eight constituencies registered an average polling rate of 59.63 percent, down by 3.17 percent from their last election in 2019, an official source from the elections department said here Saturday.
Around 62.80 percent were recorded in the last 2019 LS election.
According to election commission sources, after collecting all the EVMs late last night in the respective constituencies, the final percentage has been worked out. All the EVMs in these constituencies were kept in a strong room in the presence of all the political party representatives in their respective constituencies, with tight security.

Wardha Lok Sabha constituency recorded the highest polling of 62.65 percent, followed by Amravati constituency at 60.74 percent, Parbhani constituency at 60.09 percent, Hingoli constituency 59.87 percent, Nanded constituency 59.57 percent, Akola constituency 58.09 percent, Buldhana constituency 57.27 percent and lowest Washim-Yawatmal 57 percent.
Barring a few incidents like technical snags in EVM machines in some polling booths, boycotts by villagers in Parbhani and Amravati constituencies, and missing names in voter lists, polling was peaceful in these constituencies.
Counting in all eight constituencies will take place on June 4, they added.
