IAEA to inspect counterterrorism measures at world's largest NPP in Japan

Tokyo, Mar 5 (UNI) The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will inspect counterterrorism measures at the world's largest nuclear power plant, Kashiwazaki-Kariwa, located in Japan, at the request of its operator, TEPCO, the NHK news agency reported on Tuesday.

In 2021, Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority banned the transfer of nuclear materials to the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant in Niigata Prefecture after a series of violations related to the facility's counterterrorism measures. The ban was lifted in late December 2023.
